Running

One of the things I love about living in NE is the time, the nice roads/sidewalks, and the cooler weather to make running more enjoyable. I've never really liked running, especially running for running's sake, but there's a few things that make it almost fun.

  1. A good running app on my iPod Touch. My faves are the 5K Runner and Nike+. I love how they keep track of my progress and help me time runs without having to keep an eye on my watch.
  2. Something to listen to, aka a distraction. I love to listen to a podcast, like Boundless or a sermon, or an audio book that I can get for FREE from my public library.
With all of these things going in my favor, I've run 25 miles during the month of July! Of course, my sister's dog looking at me with her big brown eyes is a great motivator too!

Visiting Friends

I just got back from a short road trip to reconnect with friends from college and a colleague from Davao. Here are some highlights:

  • playing with kids and getting to wow them with my seemingly large scientific knowledge of how the world works
  • callouses on my fingers from playing worship songs with a fellow member of the "Ghetto Laundry Girls"
  • interacting with a friend's family members as if I were just one of the family
  • painting and catching up
  • praying for someone in person rather than half-a-world away
  • praising God for the ways that He has worked in and through my friends' lives
I love serving a great God who can use short visits and a little bit of hard work to encourage everyone!

Praise and Prayer July 2013

Grandpa and I at the lake
Give Praise for:

  • a great place to stay (I'm living with my sister and brother in Kearney) while I'm in the US on furlough. Rachel has also lent me a car to use while here as well. I'm enjoying the opportunity to spend time with family.
  • safety, even with a flat, on the trip to visit my uncles and grandparents in MO.
  • a more relaxed schedule, a blessing after a busy year.
  • a great church family to welcome me home.

Please Pray for:

  • partners to support me with prayer and finances. I will need to raise additional funds to help with increasing prices in Davao and additional costs while living in the US.
  • traveling mercies as I travel to visit friends and family during the next 6 months.
  • the teachers and administrators of Faith Academy Mindanao as they prepare for a new school year which starts Aug. 6th.
